NICOLE SCARPA

The Sculptural Journey of Nicole
Nicole Scarpa (Milan, 1993) is an Italian artist based in Mallorca. She began her journey in ceramics in 2021, drawn by the many workshops found across the island. She later continued to develop her technical skills through her studies in 2023 at the Corrie Bain International School of Ceramics in Barcelona.
Her artistic process is marked by the exploration of organic sculptural forms that emerge from an intimate and intuitive relationship with the material. Through ceramics, Nicole investigates how emotional memory can inhabit matter, giving shape to pieces that evoke internal experiences and processes of personal transformation.
The exploration of texture, both in its tactile and visual dimensions, and its interaction with the surrounding space plays a central role in her work. Through direct manipulation of clay, Nicole experiments with the expressiveness of surfaces, seeking ways to communicate through the skin of the object.

"SOMNI" COLLECTION
These pieces are part of my sculptural project and belong to the “Somni” collection. This series explores the connection between the creative act and emotion through forms that arise from an intuitive process, where memory and sensitivity guide the shaping of matter. The placement of the sculptures on concrete blocks not only serves a structural function, but also creates a visual dialogue between the solidity of the base and the organic fluidity of the forms.
